Amaravati: It seems like it's a tough time for Telugu Desam Party as the party leaders are quitting one after the another when the local body elections are at the doorpost in the state.

Recently, there are speculations that TDP senior leader and former minister Sidda Raghava Rao is going to say goodbye to the party and likely to join the YSR Congress Party.

The news is circulating in social media that Sidda Raghava Rao is in touch with YSRCP leaders and will join the party in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday.

During the TDP government's regime, Sidda Raghava Rao served as minister, known as one of the close persons to Chandrababu Naidu from Prakasam district.

In 2004, he contested as TDP MLA candidate for Ongole Assembly segment and lost in the elections. Again in 2014 elections, he changed his constituency and won as TDP MLA from Darsi Assembly seat in Prakasham district and served as minister in Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet.

In 2019 general election, Sidda Raghava Rao wanted to contest from Darsi, but with the change of political equations in the district, he contested as Ongole MP candidate and lost the elections.

Recently, several TDP leaders have resigned to TDP and joined YSRCP. The news of Sidda Raghava Rao leaving TDP has become a hot topic as it is going to be a big setback for TDP in Prakasam district.
