Tension prevails as the rainwater floods into Kadapa city due to Cyclone Nivar effect
Kadapa: A panic situation erupted with the floodwaters surrounded Kadapa city on Thursday mid night. Houses in the areas like Patha Bustand, Nagarajupet, Ravindra Nagar, Tarakarama Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Mochampet, Habibullah street, Yanadhi Coloni, Dwarakanagar, Balaji Nagar etc 20 areas inundated in water. People narrowly escaped from the danger of washing away in the water with the rescue teams immediately rushed and helped the victims. As many as 450 people shifted them to the relief centres. District SP KNN Anburajan personally monitor the situation.
However, he said that there was neither human nor property loss following launch of rescue operations told when contacted by Hans India. In view of Buggavanka Dam receiving heavy inflows from upper areas the irrigation officials let 3,000 cusecs of water to down areas on Thursday afternoon which resulted prevailing such untoward incident.
It may be recalled that a dozen of people washed away in the water in 2001 floods following Buggavanka was on spate. A car was washed away in the water as locals rescued the driver at Ramireddy palle village while he was crossing Tummavanka stream at Vempalle mandal. Following lifting of Annamaiah Dam gates water entered in Hemadripuram village in Rajampet mandal and several panchayaths were inaccessible with the several streams rivulets are in spate.
Meanwhile CK Dinne SI Rajeswara Reddy along with men have rescued 15 Ayyappa Devotee sleeping in Sivalayam located near Buggavanka project as flood waters surrounded the temple on Thursday mid night.
Officials declared high alert in the villages located under the purview of rivers like Chitravathi, Papagni, Penna, etc are in spate.
