Tirupati: Plantations, webinar mark World Environment Day

Pratap Reddy, Executive Director, APIIC and others planting samplings at Sri City on Friday

Tirupati: Sri City, one of the largest integrated business cities of the country, observed the World Environment Day (WED) on Friday. P Pratap Reddy, Executive Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), along with the other officials of APIIC planted saplings at the premises on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Sri City MD Ravindra Sannareddy said that at identified areas, green spaces such as parks and community gardens will be developed. Madhusudana Reddy, Head, Horticulture department and APIIC Zonal manager I L Ram were also present.

At IIT Tirupati IIT Tirupati Director Prof K Satyanarayana planted sapling near the new classroom complex at its permanent campus on the occasion of World Environment Day.

At SPMVV Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Vice Chancellor Prof D Jamuna planted saplings in the campus. At a programme organised by NSS, she called upon everyone to be part of reducing pollution by planting more saplings. Rector Prof K Sandhya Rani, Registrar Prof DM Mamatha, Dean Prof K Murugaiah and others participated. They organised a webinar also on the occasion on 'fighting climate change through diet'.

At IIPA The Indian Institute of Public Administration Tirupati local branch celebrated WED near 80 ft road in Padmavati Nagar by planting 18 saplings in their support towards sustainable biodiversity. Prof A Ranga Reddy, Prof D Krishna Murthy, Prof A Samanthakamani and others participated.
