TS, AP reservoirs to get good inflows from neighbours
Amaravati: The upstream projects are getting good inflows due to heavy rains in Maharashtra. The water levels reached to the full storage capacity at Jurala project in Telangana along with upstream projects like Almatti and Narayanapur in Karnataka. Now the inflows will reach Srisailam project under the purview of AP and Telangana in the next couple of days from Wednesday.
According to officials, the water level in Jurala, which is the first project on the Krishna river in the Telugu States, reached almost full storage capacity. Nearly 9 tmc ft water reached Jurala project which has 9.657 tmc ft storage capacity. The project has 90,641 cusecs inflows from Narayanapur project on Wednesday night.
Already Narayanapur has water to the brim with 32 tmc ft as against its full storage capacity of 37 tmc ft. The project has 1.56 lakh cusecs of inflows from upstream Almatti project while 1.83 lakh cusecs were being discharged to Narayanapur.
Presently, only 20,000 cusecs are being discharged from Jurala to Srisailam but the large-scale inflows from upstream projects would reach Srisailam in the next two days, the officials hoped.
The officials of the Water Resources department have plans to release water for Rayalaseema and Telangana as per the inflows. Even the water level is low in Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar but rains and inflows from upstream areas would change the situation, the official sources opined.
