Vijayawada: Arrangements underway for local body polls said Collector Mohammad Imtiaz

Vijayawada: Arrangements are in full swing for the successful and peaceful conduct of local body polls in Krishna district, said District Collector Mohammad Imtiaz. He visited the mandal parishad office in Ibrahimpatnam and inspected the arrangements on Thursday.

Later, interacting with media, the District Collector said 30,000 staff were drafted for the polling duty in the district. Referring to ZPTC polls, he said that 331 nominations were filed for 46 ZPTC posts and 3678 nominations were filed for 723 MPTCs posts in the district.

He said that the first phase of training was already completed and some more classes will be organized for the officials and the staff in the coming days.

He said 11,000 ballot boxes were ready for the polling.

He asked the police staff to made necessary arrangements like drinking water, toilets, electricity for the voters and the polling staff at the polling booths.

He has made it clear that all polling staff must follow the election rules without fail.

Otherwise, stringent action would be taken against those who flout rules, he warned.
