Vijayawada: District Collector Mohammad Imtiaz distributes pensions
Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Mohammad Imtiaz personally participated in the distribution of pensions to the eligible poor and handed over the pensions to senior citizens and the disabled at Allapuram village of Gannavaram mandal on Sunday. The State government started the distribution of pensions at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries on February 1 and continued the same on March 1, Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz said the district administration has made all the necessary arrangements for the distribution of pension at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries. He said village/ward volunteers visited the homes and handed over the pension. Referring to Allapuram village, the Collector said the volunteers would complete distribution of pensions to a total 261 beneficiaries by afternoon. He said the elderly people who could not move were very happy to receive the pension at their homes.
A sum of Rs 121.13 crore was being distributed among 4.83 lakh beneficiaries in Krishna district every month, he added.
He said two persons from the same family also getting pensions and people need not worry about it. He reminded that the elderly people used to face many hardships to collect pensions by standing in queues. DRDA project director M Srinivasa Rao, MDO Subhashini and secretariat staff was present on the occasion.
