Vijayawada: PG medical final year exams in first week of August says V-C Dr Syama Prasad

Vijayawada: Dr Syama Prasad Pigilam, Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, said here on Saturday that the final year examinations for the Post Graduate medical theory and practical examinations would be conducted in the first week of August.

He was the chief guest at the inauguration of digital conference and training classes for the post graduate medical students organised by the south zonal branch of the Indian Psychiatric Society.

Addressing the inaugural function, the Vice-Chancellor said that the role of psychiatrists is all the more relevant in the wake of the pandemic which resulted in spread of Covid-19 and deaths of victims.

The V-C said that the digital conference and the training classes would benefit 700 post graduate psychiatry students spread across five States in South India.

The specialist professors from various disciplines would address the students which would help the students during the present Covid-19 conditions.

Dr Indla Rama Subba Reddy, former national president of the Indian Psychiatry Society, who was an honorary guest to the conference, said that the post graduate training programme was started 22 years back and helping the psychiatry students immensely.

The conference was supposed to be conducted from Anantapur. However, due to the present special conditions, it is being conducted in Vijayawada, he said.

Dr P Kishan, president of the South zonal branch of Indian Psychiatric Society, presided over the meeting.

Organising Secretary Dr E Prabhakar, AP zonal secretary Dr Lokeswar Reddy, organising vice-chairperson Dr Radhika Reddy and Indla's VIMHANS director Dr Vishal were also present.
