Hyderabad: Heritage Walk by DPS students

Hyderabad: Hyderabad has a history that dates back almost 500 years. In these five centuries, the QutabShahi rulers, the Mughals, the Asaf Jahi Nizams, and the British have created an abundance of tangible history, dotting the city with numerous palaces, buildings, monuments, tombs, minarets, and fortresses. To introduce the students to these historical sites, Delhi Public School Nacharam, Nadergul & DPS Mahendra Hills (Feeder school of DPS Nacharam) in association with TV9 conducted the Heritage Walk on Saturday from Charminar to Falaknuma.

The Walk was flagged off by Syed SohailQuadriCorporatorPathergatti, Sri. BithriSathi Comedian, M Komaraiah Chairman DPS & Principal DPS Nadergul JyothiTuraga, Principal Sunita Rao DPS Nacharam, and Vice-Principal Kiran Khanna.

The prestigious Charminar, the Pride of Hyderabad became the cynosure on 1st February 2020 when a group of 3000 exuberant students & parents came together for a 5 km walk from Charminar to Falaknuma. This prestigious walk being conducted for the 4th successive year to bring awareness & protection of Heritage Sites in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion M Komaraiah, Chairman DPS schools and the brain behind this walk highlighted the unity and diversity of Hyderabad and proudly said that the state of Telangana and the pearl city of Hyderabad stand as an example of India's rich cultural heritage.

The CorporatorSohailQuadrispoke about the importance of heritage and unity taking up the Swachh Hyderabad initiation he further requested all the students'parents and the gathering to ensure the city being clean.

The passerby and the onlookers cheered at the children as a group of students made their 5 km on skates. The pride of the walk was the 70 meters Indian National Flag which stood as a testimony commemorating the spirit of freedom. The principal Mrs. JyotiTuraga stated that 5k Heritagewalk from Charminar to Falaknumais a delightful way to explore the history & heritage of a city.
