ASCI forays into sports academia

Khairatabad: The Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Sports Asia Foundation, partner of the United States Sports Academy (USSA) here on Tuesday.

The MoU was signed by the Sports Asia Foundation head, P Nagendra, and ASCI Registrar Kalyan K Roy in the presence of the ASCI Chairman K Padmanabhaiah, and the President and CEO of the USSA Dr T J Rosandich.

Dr T J Rosandich said, "USSA is the only accredited free-standing sports university in the United States. The academy offers a wide array of sports-specific degree programmes at the bachelors, masters and doctoral level and a wide array of graduate level, non-degree programmes at the individual seminar, certificate, certification, and diploma levels. Sports consulting and project development."

ASCI Chairman K Padmanabhaiah said, "A new chapter is beginning in the academic front of sports in India. Being the hub for sports activities, Hyderabad provides a perfect setting for special courses in sports."

The ASCI Director General, Prof Nirmala said that an international certification programme in sports management is on the cards besides research and consultancy assignments.
