Cops all set to ensure peaceful GHMC Elections: 3 CPs

Hyderabad: As the campaigning for GHMC elections came to an end on Sunday, the city police has enhanced the stake for conducting elections peacefully. About 22,000 cops have been deployed under Hyderabad Police Commissionerate which covers 4,979 polling stations.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the security has been beefed up in all areas as per the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission (SEC). He noted, "The central and state forces are in the city to monitor the elections and security has been increased at normal, sensitive, hypersensitive and critical polling stations and the respective police inspector has been given the charge to maintain law and order."

"Apart from the regular security arrangements, striking force and emergency response teams will also be available. Officers ranging above ACP level will monitor the election process through four lakh CCTV cameras. We want the election process to be conducted in a smooth and peaceful manner. Citizens should exercise their right to vote without creating any hindrances. Leaders who came from outside Hyderabad shall leave the city by Sunday evening," he added.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said that 13,500 cops have been deployed in 38 divisions falling under 19 polling stations of the commissionerate. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that 8,000 cops have been deployed in 30 wards falling under Rachakonda limits.
