Elaborate arrangements made for Ganesh immersions: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that elaborate arrangements have been made for Ganesh immersions to be held on September 12. On Tuesday, the Mayor held a meeting with GHMC officials to review arrangements made for Ganesh nimajjanam in the city.
Rammohan said that that Ganesh immersions would be done at 32 different locations and GHMC has spent Rs 30 crore for the arrangements. He said that GHMC has formed 194 Ganesh Action Teams, one for every three km of the 391-km Shoba yatra, comprising a sanitary officer/sanitary jawan, three SFAs and 21 sanitation workers and the teams would work in three shifts.
GHMC has appointed 481 supervisors, 719 SFAs and 9,849 sanitation workers for sanitation works at immersion points, he said. For idol immersions, 93 static cranes and 134 mobile cranes have been kept ready at immersion points, he said.
Rammohan explained various works that have been taken up as part of arrangements such as construction of artificial immersion ponds, recarpeting and repair of all major roads on the Shoba Yatra route, appointment of expert swimmers, lighting, barricading, cleaning of waste after immersion, providing water packets, electric generators, speed boats, establishment of electric transformers around Hussain Sagar lake and others.
