Secunderabad: The residents of Gandhi Nagar Basti, SCB ward -5 have been receiving contaminated water from the taps for the past two weeks. The locals say that the water is dark in colour and comes with odour. They also pointed out that the public borewell starter is not working.

Speaking to The Hans India, Venkatesh, a resident of the Basti, said, "We are forced to buy mineral water as the water we are receiving from the taps is unfit for consumption and water is also stinking".

"Locals, along with T Satish Gupta, president of Vasavinagar Welfare Association, have given several complaints to SCB officials on the issue but no action is taken yet. Also, no alternate arrangement has been made to provide pure water by the Cantonment," says Satish.

Lingappa, another resident, said, "For the past two weeks the public borewell starter has not been working and we have requested the officials concerned to repair the starter and water pipeline as soon as possible".
