Hot weather forces residents indoors

Nacharam: With the mercury levels are soaring day by day in the city, the residents are reluctant to move out of their houses. With more hot weather conditions prevailing this year than those in 2018 people are looking for alternatives to get relief. Not surprisingly the roads in the twin cities look deserted.

The same scenario prevails in residential colonies and the main thoroughfares in Nacharam division. Business establishments and shops are hit by lack of customers.

Keeping in view the hot weather, the demand/use for coolers/ACs in houses has increased steeply. Employees and others while stirring out are taking care to have their heads covered with cloths or donning helmets, besides other preventive measures like using umbrellas.

With the mercury crossing 40 degrees Celsius, people, without cooling facilities in homes, are facing hardships, unable to either stay indoors or come out. Despite the residents taking precautions, there have been cases of heat stroke afflicting some.

Thanks to the generosity of some NGOs and social organizations, people and bus passengers affected by heat are getting relief by drinking water provided by such organisations at some prominent public places and near bus-stands. Many are opting to drinking fruit juices, butter milk and sugarcane juice.

Doctors are advising both elderly persons and children not to go out to face the heat. They say it is safe for them to venture out either in morning hours or during evenings. A local resident Mallikarjun told The Hans India that the weather is discouraging people like him to go out in the afternoons.

'I am forced to complete my tasks either in the morning or in the evening hours. Srinivas says it has become difficult to leave the house during hot days. 'My family members are forced to use AC and coolers to keep themselves cool', he told THI.
