Kothaguda: Rally marks AIDS Day

Kothaguda: A rally was organised to create awareness to the public on HIV to mark 'World AIDS Day' here on Sunday. The rally started from Shilparamam, Kothaguda to SKVR Botanical Garden.

The rally was organised by the Desire Society, and the was 'Ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic community by community.' The theme was mooted by the UNAIDS that explores the challenges people around the world face in exercising their rights.

According to UNAIDS, AIDS is spreading in the province because of a lack of awareness about the disease and precautionary measures against it. "A majority of people still do not know about AIDS and this is why they are facing its outbreak," said Joel Refiman, the US Council General.

"We continue working for HIV awareness education via conducting World AIDS Day Observation every year on December 1," G Ravi Babu, executive director of Desire Society, which serves the interests of HIV/AIDS affected kids in the city.
