Mayor Bonthu Rammohan inspects animal waste segregation plant
Chengicherla: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan along with MLC Mohammed Saleem, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy inspected the rendering plant in Modern Slaughter House at on Monday.
The plant was built with an estimated outlay of Rs 19.17 crore in which the Government of India granted Rs 6.86 crore. A land parcel of 2.86 acres was allotted by the animal husbandry department.
The plant is yet to be inaugurated The Mayor said, "The animal waste generated from the slaughterhouses from Amberpet, New Bhoiguda and Ramnaspur from chicken and mutton shops are transported to rendering plant. The animal wastes are processed and converted into bi-products which can be used as feed in aquaculture and poultry farms.
These are also used in soap manufacturing units, industries and lubricants." He further added, "80 metric tonnes of animal wastes can be processed in single day. This rendering plant will reduce the throwing of animal waste in open spaces and in nalas which controls lot of pollution." Chief Veterinary Officer Dr P Venkateshwer Reddy, SE Venkatramana and Ramky constructions representative Gowtham Reddy and other participated in the visit.
