Science expo held on green initiatives
Himayatnagar: Vice chairman of Telangana State Forest Development Corporation Raghuveer urged parents to reduce use of plastic for the better future of their kids. He was speaking at 39th anniversary of Oxford Grammar School and Environment Fest held on the school premises on Sunday.
As part of the programme, a science exhibition was organised by the school management in which students of class V to X presented their models. Vice president of the school, Prarthana Manikonda presided the programme and the chief guest Raghuveer inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp. He congratulated the school managements for its efforts to reduce use of plastic.
Speaking on the occasion, Raghuveer advised parents to ensure that their kids do not use plastic. He advised the school management to plant saplings every Friday and explain the importance of greenery to students on the day. Later, he saw the science models displayed by the students at the science exhibition and congratulated them for their innovative thinking.
SRTU director Sheshu Kumari lauded the school students who presented various science models suggesting ways to protect our planet. Prof N Kavitha Dariyani Rao, JNFAU vice chancellor, expressed her concerns that extensive use of plastic may result in shortage of water, which may further lead to water wars.
Prarthana Manikonda explained the methods used by the school to provide quality education to its students. A thought-provoking skit explaining the need for protecting the planet from plastic was performed by the students. The school director K Prabhakar, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the programme.
