Hyderabad: The much-awaited Covid-19 vaccine dry run was held at four places in the city on Saturday, with the mock drill to administer the vaccine being conducted at Urban Health Centre at Tilak Nagar, Government Hospital in Nampally, Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda and also at Gandhi Hospital.

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan visited the Urban Health Centre (UHC) at Tilak Nagar to inspect the vaccine dry run. She inspected the cold chain system, vaccination rooms and the vaccination process besides interacting with the medical staff and the beneficiaries, who were given vaccine. Governor handed over the appreciation and greeting cards to the health staff and beneficiaries.

The motive of the dry run was to find out the effectiveness of the system and the measures to initiate the actual roll out of the vaccine later, she said.

Around 25-30 frontline workers were being chosen at each centre to participate in the programme. From gathering the details of the person vaccinated and entering their information online, all the process of the dry run was verified.

Governor appealed to the people to not to hesitate to take the vaccine as it was safe. Expressing happiness over vaccine roll out, she termed the year 2021 as the year of protection. She informed that the vaccination process would be taken up in four stages in the State covering 80 lakh people. In the first phase, around 5 lakh people would be given the vaccine shot.

Expressing her satisfaction about the dry run, the Governor appreciated the efforts made by the Medical and Public Health department of the State and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative to come up with the vaccination programme in the country.
