TS martyrs' aspirations still not fulfilled: Kodandaram

Lakdikapul: The president of Telangana Jana Samithi party, Professor Kodandaram, said that several young people sacrificed their lives during the Telangana agitation. Their main objective was to protect funds, water and employment; however, their aspirations had not been fulfilled even after the formation of new state. On Tuesday, he paid tributes to Telangana martyr Srikanthachari on his 10th death anniversary at Martyrs' Memorial at Gunpark on the state Assembly premises. Members of Telangana Amaraveerula Kutumbala Vedika also paid tributes to Srikanthachari.

Professor Kodandaram said that Srikanthachari who sacrificed his life in protest against repressive rule of the united state government and helped in intensifying the agitation. Kodandaram said that martyrs did not sacrifice their lives for mere geographical Telangana but with an objective of achieving control over the state resources funds, water and employment opportunities. They sought respectable livelihood and self-respect, he said.

Criticising the state government, the Telangana Jana Samithi leader further said that unemployment issue remained unaddressed so far, and alleged that funds were being diverted to Andhra contractors, even as Telangana people still continued their struggle for water. He called upon people to continue their fight to fulfill aspirations of Telangana martyrs.

Telangana Amaraveerula Kutumbala Vedika president Jaruvula Naresh alleged that CM KCR seemed to have forgotten that the state was formed due to sacrifices of martyrs. He said that the government had failed to address the issues of the martyr families. He demanded that the state government implement the GO 80 related to the martyr families. He said that a get-together of martyr families would be organised shortly.

Martyrs families association state secretary Venkatadri Chari, Vedika leaders S Raju, D Praveen, Nithin, Sai Teja, Srikanth, Manoj and others participated in the programme and paid tributes to the martyr.
