Basheerbagh: President of Telangana Jana Samithi party Professor Kodandaram and president of BC welfare association R Krishnaiah condemned the arrest of Bhoomanna Yadav, founder president of Sarpanch Association, who was fighting for protecting the rights of sarpanches in the state.

They demanded that the state government immediately release the arrested leader. They were speaking at a press conference organised by Telangana State Panchayat Sarpanch Association on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kodandaram alleged that Bhoomana Yadav, who had been fighting for 'gram swaraj' for the last 23 years, was arrested illegally by foisting false cases against him. Yadav was deliberately targeted by the government to prevent him from taking other sarpanches to file nominations in Huzurnagar byelections.

R Krishnaiah said that he would register a complaint at National BC Commission over the incident and wage a legal fight to get Yadav released. Among those present were BC leader Gujja Krishna, BJP official spokesperson Srivardhan Reddy, president of Sarpanch association Dhanalakshmi, Praneeth Chander, Ram Reddy, Mallesh and others.
