Vadderas urge govt for separate corporation

Lakdikapul: National Vaddera Association organised 'Vaddera Mahagarjana' here at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium on Sunday. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana and MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah, former MLA and national president of BC Welfare Association R Krishnaiah, BC leaders and Vaddera community leaders attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajaiah said that all the sections of the population can develop only when quality education is provided to them. He said that he reached the level of Deputy CM from being a shepherd only because of his education. He said that the Telangana government had been striving for the welfare of every backward and downtrodden section. He promised to take the issues faced by Vadderas to the notice of the state government.

Krishnaiah said that the Vaddera community has been facing financial crisis and appealed to the state government to help them. He said that the community has been deprived of several welfare schemes initiated by the state government. He urged the state and the central governments to include Vadderas either in SC or ST categories.

National president of Vaddera association Vemula Venkatesh demanded that the state government establish a separate corporation with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of the community. He also demanded rights over mining, accidental insurance and free education to their children. Public representatives who were elected in the recent MLA and MP elections were felicitated by the association. Among those present on the occasion were BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Ramakrishna, Lakshmikanthaiah, Vijaya Lakshmi and others.
