Khammam: Hospitals flooded with fever cases

Khammam: After facing the wrath of swelling Godavari, the people living in the catchment areas of the river are now suffering with fever and other related ailments.

The number of fever cases in Sompalli village in Kothagudem district, for instance, is increasing day by day. Those affected by high fever are rushed to the government and private hospitals for treatment.

In Sompalli village, 50 families are still suffering from fever. Although the medical officials are providing medical services, it seems that the fever is not under control.

The fever patients generally visit the primary health center in Morampally Banjar in the mandal, but since patients have very high fever they are referred to Palvancha Social Hospital for better treatment. Many fever patients were sent to Bhadrachalam, Palvancha, Kottagudem hospitals for treatment.

CPI(M) mandal secretary Bathula Venkateswarlu said that the top officials of the medical department should conduct free medical camps in Sompally village.

He said that if the people belonging to about 50 families are suffering from fever in this village, the health officials should organise medical camps there.

Sompally village Sarpanch Tati Veeranjaneulu said that there has been a spurt in fever cases in the last 25 days. Some patients were discharged from hospitals. Now around 25 people are undergoing at Palvoncha hospital.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Sireesha said that all the fevers were not dengue. The patients were not diognised with dengue in tests. She said it is the viral fever that has spread in the village.

She said the round the clock health services are being provided in the village and the health staff and doctor are monitoring minute to minute situation. She appealed to the people not to panic as it is a viral fever that will be over soon.
