Nannapaneni visits woman attacked by hubby

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Thursday consoled Garikapati Rajeswari, 40, who was admitted to the Government General hospital in Vijayawada, after she was wounded in the attack by her husband at Lingalapadu village of Nandigama rural mandal.

Rajakumari has expressed shock over the barbaric incident, in which the victim Rajeswari was attacked by her husband Garikapati Pitchaiah following a dispute between the couple, on Tuesday late night. The accused Pitchaiah attacked two legs of his wife wounding her severely.

She lost part of the right leg in the barbaric attack. Nandigama police said the couple had dispute after the husband sold a buffalo for Rs 43,000 and been wasting money consuming liquor. The wife objected to the decision of husband for the sale of buffalo.

After the heated argument, the accused Pitchaiah attacked his wife with an axe. She luckily survived and undergoing treatment in the GGH, Vijayawada. Rajeswari demanded that her husband should be punished for the heinous offence.
