Apart from Priyanka Reddy's gruesome murder, country witnessed yet another five rape incidents in last week
The gruesome murder of a veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad has shocked everyone. Right from social activists to students, celebrities to politicians outraged about the incident and demanding the accused to be hanged to death in public. The police produced the accused in front of a magistrate where they have been remanded for 14 days on Saturday. Just hours after the Priyanka Reddy's incident had happened, one more woman found dead at the same spot where veterinarian raped and murdered.
However, keeping this brutal incident aside, there are five fatal rape cases reported across the country over the last week, which did not surface in the news. All these rapes depict the state of women in the country.
In a horrendous incident, a 32-year-old widow, from Neyveli in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, was gang-raped by five men on Thursday. Ironically, one of the accused got killed by others when he is about to rape the victim. The incident occurred while the victim was returning home when she was stopped at a place, was abducted and raped by five members. Based on the complaint, the police captured culprits and taken into judicial custody.
The same incident was witnessed in the Kancheepuram where a 20-year-old was raped and murdered on November 26. When the police look into missing complaints filed earlier was reported to be the same woman who was raped and killed. Upon the investigation, the young girl is found to be befriended with a married man who raped and murdered her.
An auto-rickshaw driver was accused of kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl at Chandigarh Railway Station, Punjab on November 29. As per the reports, the driver was taken the girl to a deserted place and murdered after rape. A case has been registered under POSCO Act.
A minor girl raped In Vadodara on the night of November 28 by two unknown persons near Navlakhi Compound when she was out with her 16-year-old male friend. The two rapists approached the pair and picked a fight with the friends before they could abduct the girl and rape. The medical examinations confirmed that she was sexually assaulted several times and found injuries on her private parts. Police arrested them.
A 25-year-old law student was gang-raped by 12 men at gunpoint at a brick kiln near Ranchi's high-security zone this week. All the 12 accused have confessed to the crime and FIR lodged by the victim at Kanke police station; the incident happened at around 5.30 pm on November 26. The incident occurred when the girl was on her way to outskirts, where a group of persons abducted her in a car to brick kiln. However, after the gruesome incident, the victim managed to reach the police station and file a complain. And the accused were remanded.
