Music lovers enjoy Thyagaraja keerthanas

Vijayawada: For the last four days, music lovers enjoyed fine Thyagaraja Swamy keerthanas at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College auditorium here. The week-long musical festival has been organised by Vijayawada Music Academy in association with Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

On Thursday morning, the festival commenced with the vocal trio of K Sai Lakshmi Priya Lalit, K Sri Divya from Tirupati.  It was followed by another vocal concert of K Umadevi and veena concert of K Saikrishna Priya, vocal recitals of Oruganti Vanaja,  Tushara Purna Valli, Lanka Tejeswi, Kalluri Srinivas and B Bindu.  Violin support rendered for these concerts by CB Madhu, B Seetaramalakshmi,  K Subrahmanyaraju, VSPG Sivani and mridangam support by S Jaganmohani, Rayaprolu Sudhakar, Kottapalli Nagasundara Mahesh, KV Kishore and K Karthikeya Adinarayana Sarma.

The evening musical concerts started with the vocal concert of K Lasya Chandrika. The concert was supported by CB Madhu on violin and Konda Subrahmanyam on mridangam. The duet of Malladi Sivananda Yasasvi and Malladi Sindhu Rageswari was appreciated by the audience. The duet was accompanied by Kottapalli Nagasundara Mahesh on mridangam and VSPG Sivani on violin.

A group consisting of DLN Kiranmayi, Ch Lakshmirajyam, B Manjusha and P Jyothy presented melodiously the Thyagaraja Keerthanas. They were supported with violin and mridangam by H Ramacharan and Kundurthi Aravind. The vocal concert of SM Sridevi was appreciated by the listeners. Sridevi was supported by BV Durga Bhavani on violin and Parupalli Balasubrahmanyam on mridangam.

Popuri Charumati Pallavi’s vocal concert was received well by the spectators. K Subrahmanya Raju supported on violin and KKA Sarma on mridangam. The veena recital of KS Govindarajan, principal, Music College enthralled the audience. He played the popular keerthanas of Saint Thyagaraja Swamy on veena. Parupalli Balasubrahmanyam supported with mridangam to the veena recital.

Excellent voice and fine rendering of Vani Rammurthy (Chennai) captured the audience. BV Durga Bhavani and B Suresh Babu supported with violin and mridangam.  The festival concluded with the vocal concert of the popular vocalist Malladi Suribabu. C Nandakumar and BVS Prasad supported with violin and mridangam. Seeram Subrahmanyam, Machiraju Subrahmanyam, N Ch  Buchayacharyulu organised the music concerts.
