Govt permits digging of sand at four reaches

Kakinada: Collector Karthikeya Misra has said that permission was accorded to four sand reaches in the district and directed the respective officials to monitor the sand digging properly in the sand reaches.

Participating in sand review meeting here, the Collector said that permissions were given to Pasuvulanka sand reach in I Polavaram mandal to dig 20,970 cubic metres of sand in 2.09 hectares. In Atreyapuram sand reach permission was given to dig 43,700 cubic metres of sand in 4.37 hectares and in Ankampalam reach the permission was accorded for 28,080 cubic metres of sand to dig in 2.8 hectares of Atreyapuram mandal. 

In Masakapalli sand reach also permission was given in 308 hectares to dig 31,886 cubic metres of sand in Gangavaram mandal. The sand would be supplied as per the rates fixed by the government, he added. Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni, Rajamahendravaram Sub-Collector CM Sai Srikanth Varma, ITDA project officer AS Dinesh Kumar and other officials were present.
