Young voters can change future: Collector
Kakinada: National Voters Day was celebrated at the JNTU Alumni Hall here on Thursday. District Collector Kartikeya Mishra who was seen at the event said that voters should exercise their franchise in the democracy to elect right leaders. “Everyone who has completed 18 years of age should register as voters. Young voters have the power to change the future,” said the Collector.
Mishra also suggested that the teachers play a vital role in guiding the students for better future. Speaking on the occasion, District Superintendent of Police, Vishal Gunni said that the voters should feel the responsibility in choosing the leaders. JNTU Vice-Chancellor, VVS Kumar said that failure to vote would affect the democracy.
Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna said that voting percentage should increase in every election. “This could be possible through the active participation of voters.” In this connection, the Collector felicitated senior voters, Ramireddy Nagaraju, V Latcharao, N Pulla Rao and K Srinivasa Rao.
Mishra also felicitated newly enrolled voters. Later, prizes were distributed for the winners in essay-writing and elocution competitions. Earlier, Joint Collector Mallikarjuna flagged off an awareness rally on the importance of voting which started from Bhanugudi Junction to the JNTU.
DRO UCG Nageswara Rao, RMC Principal R Mahalakshmi, Additional SP R Damodar, RDO L Raghubabu took part in the National Voters Day ceremony.
