3.5 lakh Prakasam kids administered polio vaccine

Ongole: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghava Rao and Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan Rao requested the public to see that their children below the age of 5 years are administered with two drops of polio vaccine as part of the Pulse Polio day on Sunday.

Inaugurating the campaign in the district, the minister administered two drops of the vaccine to the babies at the Mangamuru Donka Mukhyamantri Arogya Kendram. He said that Pulse Polio booths were arranged at all PHCs, bus stands and railway stations in the state and nurses and Anganwadi workers were appointed to see each and every child below age of 5 years get the oral vaccine. “About 3.5 lakh children are identified in the district and efforts would be made to administer vaccine to all of them without fail by Tuesday,” he said. 

The MLA Janardhana Rao also  administered polio drops to children in the same PHC and asked the parents to ensure their wards get the vaccine when the staff visits their locality. Joint Collector S Nagalakshmi, Additional Joint Collector D Markandeyulu, DMHO Dr Rajyalakshmi, RDO K Srinivasa Rao, DIO Dr Sarala and other staff members participated in the inauguration programme.
