Children’s health responsibility of parents, says MLA

Kakinada: Children’s health is every parent’s responsibility, said MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao. “Let us eradicate polio from the country by giving two drops of polio vaccine to the children,” said the MLA, calling upon parents. He inaugurated Pulse Polio vaccine centre at the CM Arogya Kendram (health centre) at Suryanarayana Puram here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the polio vaccine was being administered to children on National Immunisation Day which is observed on every January 28. A total of 163 polio vaccine centres were established to give the drops for 39,914 children in the city.

The MLA informed that medical and health staff would visit every home and administer polio vaccine at the doorsteps of the children who missed Sunday’s Pulse Polio vaccination. “Parents should keep the children healthy by ensuring their children get the polio drops,” he advised.

He appealed to the parents to propagate Pulse Polio to neighbours and friends who have children. He informed that on March 11, the second dose of this polio MLA Vanamadi.Venkateswara Rao vaccine would be given to the children and urged the public that they should also give the second dose to their children. Mayor Pavani and Commissioner Parvathi also spoke in the programme. Additional DMHO Pavan Kumar, DIO Mallik took part in the event among others.
