Six more e-Eye Centres soon in EG

Kakinada: District Collector Kartikeya Mishra launched an e-Eye Centre at the Government General Hospital at Pithapuram on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Mishra said that the government had established the e-Eye Centre to treat the diabetic retina therapy, hypersensitive retina therapy and glaucoma. He informed that besides Pithapuram, the e-Eye Centres were already launched at Mandapeta, Prathipadu, P Gannavaram, Kothapeta, Kadiyam and Rampachodavaram in the district. Another six e-Eye Centres would come up soon in the district.

Mishra stated that all these e-Eye Centres were connected to the Central Hub and the experts would render their medical aid through the telemedicine system. 

Speaking on the occasion, District Blindness Control Officer P Mallikarjuna Raju said that Fundus Camera and Auto Refractor were established in the centre. The experts would give suggestions by watching the images sent by the Fundus Camera within six hours. He also said that the poor can get the eyeglasses for free after the necessary tests. 

In this connection, Pithapuram MLA Varma urged the Collector to fill the vacant gynecologist post at GGH Pithapuram. Mishra immediately responded and ordered the DMHO Chenchayya to fill the vacant post. Tehsildar Suguna and Hospital Development Committee members participated.
