Changes in voters list to be made by Feb 14
Kakinada: As a part of Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls 2018, claims and objections in voters list could be done up to February 14, announced District Collector Kartikeya Mishra.
While reviewing the Summary Revision of electoral rolls in the district with the EROs and AEROs in the district through a videoconference from the Collectorate on Saturday evening, Mishra suggested them to propagate the issue to all the voters in the district to make use of this facility before February 14 for inclusions or objections in the voters list.
He further said that probably this revision of electoral rolls would be the last revision before general elections and every care should be taken to make the electoral role was perfect in all aspects. The Collector said that as per the schedule given by the Election Commission, a special campaign would be held on February 4 and 11 at polling booth level. He claims and objections received by EROs should be done by March 5. Completion of updates by would be over by March 15 and final publication of rolls would be done by March 24.
He also instructed the EROs to take the necessary steps to avoid duplication of votes as 7305 votes were identified in the district under duplication category. He also instructed the officials to strictly adhere by the responsibilities given by the Election Commission to all the concerned and strict action would be taken for any violation.
He also advised them to encourage online submission of applications for claims and objections and this should also be done in agency areas by arranging computers wherever internet facility was available.
With regard to the enrolment of new voters, the Collector said that all those people who attained 18 years by January 2018 are treated eligible as the new voters and suggested them to put efforts at degree colleges, engineering, medical colleges and at polytechnics to enrol the new voters.
Earlier, the Collector conducted a meeting with various political party representatives at Collectorate and requested them to encourage public to make use of the summary revision of electoral rolls.
