Probe ordered into issue of disability certificates

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the district coordinator of health sciences (DCHS), K Shankar Rao to conduct an inquiry into the issuance of disabled people’s certificates by SADARAM Board of Tanuku. He stated that it seems that the Tanuku SADARAM Board had issued certificates to ineligible persons.

He conducted a ‘Mee Kosam’ programme held at Collectorate here on Monday. During the programme, he received the complaints and representations from the people. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the disability of the people who applied for the pension was observed only 20 percent. However, the certificate issued by the SADARAM Board shows their disability ranging from 60 to 82 percent. 

Golla Srinivas of Kata Koteswaram village in Nidadavole mandal represented the Collector on his hearing disability. After the verification, the Collector found the certificate of disability was 82 percent whereas it was lesser than 50 percent. The Collector directed the DCHS Shankar Rao to verify the 300 certificates issued by SADARAM Board in Tanuku Government Hospital and submit a report within 15 days. If any irregularities were found, the concerned officials will have to face stern action, he reiterated.

The Collector received many representations from the people at the programme. DCHS K Shankar Rao, Housing Project Director Srinivasa Rao, R and B SE Nirmala, RWS SE Amareswara Rao and other officials participated in Mee Kosam programme.
