Collector angry over official apathy

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar, expressed his anger over the officials who failed to pay the medical expenses of a retired employee. He warned the officials not to play with the lives of pensioners by stopping the bills. He conducted the Mee Kosam grievances redressal programme at Collectorate here on Monday. He received the complaints and representations from the public.  

D Balaram Prasad, a retired superintendent of Ground Water Department, submitted his representation to the Collector stating that he was wandering around the office for his medical expenses bill payment. He stated that he was suffering from the cardiac problem and the officials in the office did not even receive his bills.

Responding on the complaint, the Collector expressed his anger over the concerned officials and said, “You may face such a miserable situation after the retirement. Do not treat the pensioners when they submitted the bills with proper supporting papers. No one expects the ill-health after the retirement. If you clear the bill, the pensioner feels happy to meet his medical expenses.”

S Pothuraju, G Mary Sudha, T Raghuraju and others from Komarada village in Bhimavaram mandal submitted that the panchayat had taken up steps to construct a dumping yard near Harijanpet of the village. Due to the dumping yard, the colony people may face problems like spreading of mosquitoes, flies. The Collector, responding on the problem, stated that dumping yard should be constructed in the village to establish a clean environment in the villages. There was no problem with the dumping yards, he stated. 

Several people submitted representations and the Collector directed concerned officials to clear those representations. Joint Collector Pulipati Koteswara Rao, Joint Collector –II MH Sheriff, DRDA project director K Srinivasulu, DWAMA project director Ganeswara Rao, District Panchayat Officer Mullapudi Venkataramana and others participated in the programme.
