MP requests Centre to widen road to Srisailam
Ongole: MP YV Subbareddy, met Union Minister for National Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday, and requested his support for developing various roads in his constituency, said a note from his office.
The MP met the minister and explained him that hundreds of people from Gudimellapadu, Mandavavari Palem, Muktinutalapadu were struggling to cross the NH 5 and requested him to construct an underpass on the highway for these villagers. He also dragged the attention of the minister to the plight of Tippayapalem villagers, who were losing their houses in the widening of NH 554D. He requested the minister to construct a bypass at the village or reduce the width of the road from 30 meters to 20 meters to save the poor families.
Subbareddy explained Gadkari that Srisailam was one of 18 Sakti Peethams and apart from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, a large number of devotees from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Maharashtra and Karnataka visit the holy place regularly. He said that the people coming through Markapuram were facing a lot of trouble to reach Srisailam as the road was congested.
He requested the minister to widen the road connecting Devaraju Gattu and China Dornala as four-lane road to help the devotees have a pleasant and safe journey. The MP said that the Union minister responded to his requests positively a favorable decision would be taken soon.
