Bhimadole: A team of Andhra Pradesh Koulu Rythu Sangham (APKRS) visited the paddy fields in Pulla village in Bhimadole mandal on Monday, where the farmers incurred a loss due to the spurious seeds.
The APKRS district committee general secretary, K Srinivas, district president Guttikonda Venkata Krishna Rao and APKRS leader Korni Appa Rao asked the tenant farmers about the paddy crop. The farmers told the team that due to spurious and mixed seed, the farmers in Pulla area incurred losses and non-availability of irrigation water also added to their agony.
The APKRS leaders demanded that the government pay compensation to the tenant farmers who incurred a loss due to the spurious seeds. They said that some seed brokers sold the spurious Sahara variety of paddy seed to the farmers of Pulla tenant farmers by saying it would yield 60 to 70 bags per acre. The brokers who sold out the seed did not respond to the problem of the tenant farmers, they stated. The leaders demanded that the officials book cases against the brokers who supplied the spurious seeds.
The tenant farmers, Allu Peda Srinivasa Rao, Kolli Pydiyya, Bommi Nageswara Rao, Vaikuntha Nageswara Rao, Allu China Srinu requested the officials to solve their problem.
