CCOs must protect street children

Kakinada: East Godavari Collector Karthikeya Misra advised the officials of Child Care Organisations (CCOs) to provide necessary protection to street children and added that it is the duty of every one to take care of them.

He issued certificates to 11 CCOs here on Thursday. He said that the organisations should take care of street children and provide facilities as per rules, including
supply of nutritious food and their welfare. Stern action would be taken against the respective CCOs who fail to follow the guidelines, he warned.

District probation officer P Bala Prabhakar said at present Child Welfare and Child Reforms department was issuing certificates to CCOs from 2015. Earlier, Child and Women Welfare department used to issue certificates, he said.

The certificates were issued to 55 CCOs as against 59 applications so far. Of them, certificates were given to 11 CCOs on Thursday. All the CCOs should follow the government rules in this regard strictly, he added.
