Deal sternly with accused in SC/ST, women cases

Rajamahendravaram: Collector Karthikeya Misra has advised the police department to put an end to the atrocities on SC/STs, women and girls and asked the department to deal with the accused with iron hand.

Participating in a meeting held at Sub-Collector's office here on Wednesday, he said that the government was very much particular in this regard and directed the police department to register cases against the respective persons without any delay. Every month review meetings on atrocities would be conducted to discuss about the progress of cases. The officials should come with full details to the meetings, he instructed.

He underlined the need to conduct awareness programmes in schools and SC/ST residential areas which was the need of the hour. The police should respond immediately relating to atrocity cases.

Urban SP B Raja Kumari said SHE teams were formed in the district and the crime against women was reduced. Directions were issued to the respective officials to attend to the cases relating to atrocities immediately, she added.Police officials Rajanikanth Reddy, J Kula Sekhar, Narayana Rao, Nagaraju and others were present.
