Vijayawada: Revenue minister K E Krishna Murthy said that the government would take a decision in a week on issuing B.Form Pattas to the beneficiaries by regularising the lands in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam cities. Answering questions in Assembly on Monday, Krishna Murthy said that the issue has been referred to the Group of Ministers (GOM) which would take a decision in this regard.

The revenue minister said that the district collector of Krishna has also sent a proposal to the state government. As many as 40,358 encroachments were identified, he said, and added that the government would take a positive decision to the benefit of poorer sections.

Vijayawada city Central constituency MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao said that the poor people were facing hardships due to lack of B.Form Pattas. He said that thousands of people encroached the government land and residing in the respective areas.

The successive governments have also recognised some of the encroachments by issuing Pattas. But the beneficiaries sold their plots and houses to others he said and added that now the existing residents have been living there for the last several decades.

The residents do not have any legalised documents other than B.Form Pattas, issued long ago in the names of encroachers, and they were not valid. He asked the government to regularise them immediately. The residents could get house loans and mortgage their property from the regularisation.

Besides, BJP floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju said the people were facing same problem in Visakhapatnam. He asked the government to regularise the lands below 100 square yards and more. The lands of Santosh Nagar were wrongly included in the list of the government lands he said and asked the minister to solve their problem by excluding them immediately.
