State to get 53,000 cr revenue in current year: Special Chief Secretary

Guntur: Special Chief Secretary to the government (Revenue department) D Sambasiva Rao has said that the government will get Rs.53,000 crore revenue through the Stamps and Registration department, Commercial Tax, Excise, Mining and Revenue departments during the  current financial year.

The Special Chief Secretary conducted a review meeting with the higher officials  of  these  departments at ZP conference hall in Guntur on Thursday. Later, speaking to the Hans India, he has said that the government will get Rs.38,000 crore from  the commercial taxes department and remaining income from the Stamps and Registrations, Transport, Mining, Revenue and Forest departments. 

Replying to a question, he says that the government is not looking the Excise department as a revenue earning department. The government is giving Encumbrance Certificates free of cost to render better services to the people, to reduce work burden on the staff and at the same time to eliminate middle men. 

Stating that people may take ECs online also, he said that this system would reduce work burden on the officials and staff in the Registration department. He urged the people to avail the facility.  He said that original records are also available online. 

"Similarly, we are giving ECs also the online," he added. After the government introduced this facility, people need not make rounds to the Registration  department, he said and felt that the system would be helpful to prevent fake certificates.

Earlier, addressing a review meeting in the Stamps and Registration department, he said that every year on an average Registration department will register 1.25 lakh to 1.5 lakh registrations in the state.  He asked the officials as to why online registrations are taking 48-hours time, though the documents are available online. He instructed the district Registrars to verify registrations every day online to check irregularities if any. 

He asked the officials why they are not doing it and suggested them to check whether applicant has paid fee as per norms or not, has the ID card and asset to be registered was not in the prohibited list. 

He directed the officials that they should not create problems to people in the name of rules. If they want to take permission of the District Collector, then they should take it from him as per norms. 

Inspector  General  of Stamps and Registration  department, P. Venkatarami Reddy, DIG  Pushpalatha,  Registrars in the district and Commissioner of Excise  P Lakshmi Narasimham were among those present.
