Tirupati: An elderly woman, aged 59 years, was brutally murdered by three unknown persons on Monday night creating sensation in the city. The victim Vijayalakshmi, a house wife, has been living along with her husband Jayakumar and son Suman on Konka street, a busy centre.

According to Tirupati urban police, three unknown persons had come to Vijayalakshmi house at 8.30 p.m on Monday and knocked the door. One of them entered the house first and made inquiries with the old woman about to-let board at the house. Immediately, another two persons entered the house and attacked Vijayalakshmi with knifes and they slit her throat. She died instantly.

The miscreants took away two golden bangles from her. Other ornaments and cash in almirah were not touched. Before her death, Vijayalakshmi spoke to her husband over phone and informed him that three persons had come and made inquiries about the rent for the house.

After the incident, Jayakumar had come to house and was shocked to see his wife lying dead in pool of blood. He lodged a complaint at Tirupati west police station.
