NGOs told to follow norms to run hostels

Nellore: Additional SP B Sarat Babu advised voluntary organisations to follow the orders of the Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) for child protection and also use website for missing cases of children.

He addressed a review meeting organised here on Monday and said they had found that hostels being run for the orphans and destitute children by some voluntary organisations are not following the CWC orders. He stated there were 55 cases registered under the Juvenile Justice Act till now and added they also continuously monitoring the situation through the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB).

He lamented that there were no observation homes and shelters in the district for children till now and said they would take steps to promote them. Circle Inspector (DCRB) Srinivasa Rao, representatives of NGOs like EVS Naidu and others were present.
