Hyderabad: The Met department has warned of heat wave conditions likely to prevail on June 18 at Isolated places in coastal Andhra along with thunderstorms with gusty winds in all districts along with Rayalaseema.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at isolated places in Andhra Pradesh from June 18 to 21. The day temperatures in the coastal districts are likely to be around 40-42 degrees Celsius, three-four degrees above normal, at a few places.

The department bulletin said heat-wave conditions were experienced at isolated places in all coastal districts on Sunday.  There were also thunderstorms with gusty winds in all State districts.

The rain is being attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation at 7.6 km above the mean sea level lying over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Odisha and north coastal Andhra.

Jangamaheswarapuram and Tuni recorded the highest day temperatures of 41 degrees Celsius, which were markedly above normal at one or two pockets in coastal Andhra.
