Involve students in Special Category Status agitations: Ramakrishna
Guntur: CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna expressed solidarity with Kadapa district bandh to be held on June 29. He addressed a meeting held in Service Health Organisation in Guntur city under the aegis Pratyekahoda Atmagaurava Porata Samithi on Sunday.
Samithi convener Avadhanula Hari presided over the meeting. Speaking on this occasion, Ramakrishna demanded Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and fulfillment of other promises made in AP Reorganisation Act.
He further said that it is responsibility of the Centre to set up a steel plant at Kadapa, sanction a separate railway zone for AP and release funds for the construction of the state capital. He alleged that the Centre had cheated AP and rejected SCS. He stressed the need to involve students in the Special Status agitations as they are aimed at ensuring better future for them.
Ramakrishna said that the Left parties proposed to organise Manavaharam with one crore people on July 25 to exert pressure on Centre to implement the promises made in Reorganisation Act. Former MLC K.S,Lakshmana Rao and CPI leader J Ajay Kumar also spoke.
