Congress to set up 44,000 booth-level panels by Sept 30

Vijayawada:  Andhra Pradesh Congress affairs in-charge Oommen Chandy said the party would appoint 44,000 booth level committees by September 30 in the State as part of the efforts to regain the glory and strengthen the Party from the gross root level.

As part of the State-wide tour to study the ground level situation, Chandy conducted a meeting with the activists of Penamaluru Assembly constituency at Penamaluru on Monday. He interacted with the functionaries and explained the objectives of his tour.

Later, briefing the media along with PCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy, Oommen Chandy said he would tour all districts of the State from July 9 to 31 and would meet the party leaders and functionaries. 

He hoped that the Congress party would be strengthened from November onwards and would conduct door-to-door campaign from October 2 to November 19 in the State.  Giving details of the party activities, the in-charge of AP said committees would be appointed in all 175 Assembly constituencies in the State to increase co-ordination among the cadre. He said efforts were on to bring back the leaders, who left the Congress.

MP K V P Ramachandra Rao, former Union minister Pallam Raju, senior party leader Gidugu Rudraraju, DCC president Dhanekula Murali, former MLA Mastan Vali and other leaders attended the meeting.
