Vigilance officials check SW hostels in Prakasam district

Ongole: The officials from the Vigilance and Enforcement Department conducted surprise quality checks in the social welfare hostels in the Prakasam district on Wednesday.

The checks started in the morning in Ongole and spread to Singarayakonda, Addanki and other places immediately. 

The Vigilance ad Enforcement Department SP Sankar Reddy conducted the checks in the SC Girls Hostel opposite the Ambedkar Bhavan in Ongole. 

He and his team interacted with the students and inquired about the regular food menu, its quality, facilities being provided at the hostel, number of children in the hostel and count entered in the register etc.

Similar checks were held at the SC Hostel in Addanki town and SC boys hostel in the Kandukuru road at Singaratakonda and other places. 

In many of the hostels, the officials found that the hostel warden who should be available with the student round the clock is not available.

They observed that the wardens are not following the menu fixed by the government and the children complained of poor quality of the food. 

They found that in many hostels, the students didn’t have blankets, not receiving cosmetics and in many of the buildings, they do not have proper bathrooms. 

The officials announced that they will submit a report to the government to initiate action on the concerned.
