V & E panel for online allotment of shops
Guntur: The Vigilance and Enforcement department recommended the government to introduce online registration system in the allotment of shops to farmers in rythu bazaars and for maintaining transparency in the system.
A team of Vigilance and Enforcement officials inspected the rythu bazaars in the district and suggested the government to set up CCTVs in rythu bazaars to check irregularities.
According to norms, the estate officer in-charge must conduct lottery for allotment of shops for every 15-days.
Currently, some rythu bazaars are not conducting lottery for the allotment of shops.
During the inspection, the officials found some vegetable vendors in rythu bazaars are not having identification cards and recommended to issue ID cards to all vendors and SHG women, to whom shops were allotted.
The team also found that Pattabhipuram Rythu Bazaar, which was in the heart of city, is not having proper platforms to keep weighing machines.
The team opined as there were no proper platforms, there was a possibility for irregularities in the weighment and sought for construction of platforms.
They suggested to construct a good shopping complex for rythu bazaar with necessary infrastructure including toilets and drinking water and parking facility.
There is need to set up milk parlour in Pattabhipuram Rythu Bazaar. As Rythu Bazaar in Mangalagiri town located on the town outskirts, consumers are facing inconvenience to purchase vegetables.
The consumers requested the team to take steps to set up another rythu bazaar within the reach of residents.
The estate officers in the most rythu bazaars are engaged on outsourcing system and they are not having knowledge on maintaining rythu bazaars and suggested the government to conduct training classes for them.
Regional Vigilance and Enforcement officer T Sobha Manjari said the government would take steps to improve the system and provide better services to the consumers.
She admitted that there was a need to maintain transparency in registration and allotment of shops and suggested to introduce online system for the allotment of stalls.
