Grameena Swachhata Radhams inaugurated by Collector Karthikeya Misra

Kakinada: Collector Karthikeya Misra has said that steps are taken to bring awareness on open defecation among the people in the district.

Inaugurating Grameena Swachhata Radhams at Collectorate here on Wednesday, he said that the two radhams would give publicity on ODF mainly on the usage of lavatories, maintenance of sanitation, how to grow plants etc for a fortnight in the district.

Individual toilets were more important to achieve ODF and it helps to get better environment. The government was ready to sanction individual toilets to each house without any delay. State and Central governments were working on mission mode for better sanitation in the state, he added.

Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi said the government was ready to sanction any number of individual lavatories and asked the people to come forward for constructing the lavatories.

Amalapuram MLA Aityabattula Anand Rao underlined the need for more publicity relating to sanitation, healthy environment etc. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is very much particular in this regard, he added.

Zilla Parishad chief executive officer B Vidya Sagar, Rural Water Supply superintending engineer CM Appa Rao, DWAMA project director G Raja Kumari and others were present.
