Gang robbing private bus passengers held in Nellore

Nellore: Central Crime Station (CCS) cops along with Vedayapalem police nabbed an inter-state robbery gang involved in number of thefts. The cops recovered 12 sovereigns of gold worth Rs 3 lakh from them.

The accused were identified as Ashik Ansari, Vajid, Sabir, Jisaan, Mohammad Taher Malim, Farzan Ali, Mohammad Ayub, and Satyaveer Singh. CCS DSP M Balasundar Rao disclosed the case details at CCS here on Thursday. 

According to the DSP, the 8-member gang usually travels in private travel buses as normal passengers. They steal gold ornaments from the luggage of the co-passengers. They share the booty and disperse to their villages. The accused were also arrested in other theft cases in Chennai and in Hyderabad cities,’ said DSP Balasundar Rao.

The gang members travel regularly to Hyderabad, Guntur, Ongole, Nellore, Anantapur, Chennai and also to other cities, he added. DSP said that the gang members have stolen a suitcase and gold ornaments in a private travel bus heading towards Nellore from Bengaluru recently.
