Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar alerted  officials over possible floods in Godavari riparian Panchayats and mandals. He asked them to monitor precautionary measures to avoid spread of diseases because of poor hygienic conditions in several villages.

He convened a review meeting with Panchayat officials here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he ordered the officials to take precautionary measures on hygiene.

He asked them to remove garbage promptly to avoid spread of diseases from flies and mosquitoes. He warned the officials of strict action if they ignore their duties.

Informing that the administration had sanctioned over 1,600 green vehicles to clear garbage from villages without delay, the Collector said that 440 of them were not yet reached villages concerned.

The companies supplying vehicles were given time to meet the demand. If they failed to supply the same, the administration would initiate action, he warned.

Referring to establishment of solid management sheds, the Collector directed the District Panchayat Officer to issue show-cause notices to the officials of 24 mandals who had failed to make payments in this regard during the last week.
