Nuzvid: The contract assistant professors, lecturers, mentors and other non-teaching employees like lab assistants, lab technicians, foreman and store keeper gave a notice to the director of IIIT Nuzvid that from September 10 they would go on strike demanding that the authorities address their problems.

According to YVG Nukeswara Rao, president of IIIT Employees Association, they had been rendering relentless services to uplift the university since its inception in 2008  and made it very much clear if the issues were not resolved they would go on a strike and would boycott teaching classes.

Rao said that the mentors of the university had been serving the university for the last 10 years.

The university had promised them that their services would be regularised once they complete 10 years of service.

He recalled that the High Court had also instructed the university to regularise their service once they complete ten years of service.

But the university had forgotten and never taken any interest in initiating the process, he added.

He said that the Chancellor Prof Raj Reddy during the visit to India instructed the authorities of the university to enhance the salaries of the employees by 25 percent and no action was taken till now.

He said that they would attend the duties wearing black badges.
