Adopt new techniques, women farmers told

Kadapa: Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy gave a call to women farmers to adopt latest technologies in the cultivation for securing rich yield with less investment. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the Women Farmer's Day here on Monday, the Minister said drastic changes took place in the farming sector when compared to past.

He exhorted women to adopt new farm techniques by attending training programmes, conventions, and securing books from the local agriculture office for acquiring knowledge in various aspects related to cultivation. The Minister stated farmers should focus on Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) as the state government is giving top priority for natural farming for quality output with less investment.

In the district, there are 1.6 lakh women farmers and 1.75 lakh acres under cultivation, he added. Reddy praised women farmers for playing a key role in the state as they are achieving good results equally with men. Earlier, the Minister inspected stalls set up by Agriculture and Horticulture Departments. District Collector Ch Hari Kiran, Joint Collector-2 Siva Reddy, Joint Director of Agriculture J Murali Krishna and others were present.
